Well, there were doubts in the beginning, and folks who thought there was no need for a bike shuttle business in Moab but 31 years later, Coyote Shuttle is still going strong. It was the same sentiment for the VW’s that Jesse outfitted to schlep bikes up the hill to Porcupine or canoes up Mineral Bottom but funny enough, they have outlasted us. As of this year, Jesse and Kris have decided to get out of the driver’s seat and let someone else take the steering wheel. It was a hard decision as we are super proud of this little business and look back fondly at all the mountain roads we have climbed, the chatter bumps we have conquered, tires we have changed, storms we have weathered and all the amazing folks we have met. We built our little empire from the scratch, back when our goat Merle could safely walk across Main Street and find Jesse hanging with the crew at a local bike shop. Can you even imagine that Moab? And now, the shuttle business is a thriving part of the local economy in Moab. In addition to creating the first shuttle in town, the racks Jesse has created and fabricated grace the roofs of not only Coyote’s vans but of all the other shuttles and outfitters in town. They can also be found in multiple other states including Colorado, Oregon, Arizona and Montana to name a few. Not to toot our horns too much but we are proud of what we created and what we have been a part of. And now to toot the horn of the new owner. We are excited for Merrick Golz to take the helm. We know that he will continue to operate the business with the same integrity and can-do spirit that a Moab business owner needs to thrive in this feast or famine economy. He is determined, personable, clever and a super hard worker. He is also a longtime local and has established deep roots in the community. We are confident he is the best person to keep Coyote Shuttle going for another 30 years or more. Thank you all, guests and employees alike for the conversations, inspirations and support over the years. We are thick with stories of adventures and you are part of them. We have been so lucky to have had a business that not only allowed us to live in Moab but was fun and rewarding. Our jobs take up a great part of our daily lives and we were part of the lucky ones who got to spend our days outside in a beautiful landscape surrounded by characters, innovators and adventurers! We will miss you all! Jesse Marshall and Kris Jensen
