It may be hot and red in the desert but it’s cool and green in the mountains.

There are plenty of trails to explore in the La Sals in the summer including Hazard County, Burro Pass, Moonlight Meadows, Schuman’s Gulch, Hell’s Canyon and a bunch of others on the west side of the peaks. You can ride some of these as loops or get a shuttle up and ride back into the desert.   Make sure you stop by the Chile Pepper Bike Shop and grab a map and lots of snacks before you go exploring.
